Obituary of Rose Marie Cooper
Rose Marie Cooper was born to Ed and Florence Tompke at Lake Alma, Saskatchewan on Decemebr 5, 1932. She went to school in Lake Alma and as so many other folks at this time, never completed her grades because of depressed times and labour shortages. She helped cook and clean around the home and basically looked after things (the animals, the other children, etc.) which her mother passed on to her to do. Rose eventually moved to Winnipeg where she cooked for a few years and eventually moved to the Galahad area where she met Ernie. They were married nearly 60 years ago and their marriage was one of true companionship and true sharing. One child was born to them, Gordon, who, to this day, was always a treasure in the eyes of his parents, especially to Rose. She enjoyed her years as a housewife, especially spending countless hours in the kitchen where she loved nothing more than to cook up a storm for those who would come and visit. Rose was a most amazing cook and this was only surpassed by her quilting endeavors which grace many beds and couches throughout the region.
Rose passed away on May 8, 2013 at the age of 80 and she leaves behind her loving husband of almost 60 years, Ernie. Her son Gordon and his friend Jackie, along with Gordon Jr. and sister Edna of Black Diamond, are those left behind. Rose's brothers, Leroy, Ernie and Billy have all sadly predeceased her. Rose had many nieces and nephews and extended family.
Memorial donations in memory of Rose may be made to the Galahad Health Care Centre c/o Ladies Auxiliary.
