Frank was a natural story teller. My most pleasant memories of Frank include the many fascinating stories he told. Then the of course there was his music which he shared with his family and community. Later, I spent many enjoyable hours with Frank and Willy learning the knitting business.

It wasn't unusual for young men to come calling at my parents' home when I was in my early teens. Some had Dutch names others did not. Frank was one with a distinctly non Dutch name that rolled off the tongue rather nicely. The only interest these gentlemen callers had in me was what I could tell them about my three sisters. In that respect, Frank was no different. Initially I thought that was curious but eventually it all fell into place.
.......
Frank worked at the Agricultural Research Station and lived in the bunk house along with several other single men who were also employed at the Research Station. Frank, during his frequent visits to my parents' home, occasionally stayed for dinner. At such times Frank brought and played his fiddle or sang to the accompaniment of his guitar. And of course there were many fascinating bunk house stories. ..........
Over the years, after Frank's marriage to Wilhelmina, Frank and I had many debates about Canadian Agriculture, the Wheat Board, and Politics at all levels. We seldom agreed, nevertheless, we developed a real bond of affection for each other. I'm saddened that this has ended. .....

We were sorry to hear about Franks passing - our sympathys to all of the family. I (Mavis) have many warm memories of both Frank and Willie - I never think of one without the other. You were both so kind to me over the years - sometimes Frank helped me with my knitting machine as much as Willie. I missed the knitting shop greatly for a long time and still do when I want some really good yarn. Koreen still has the baby blankets I knit on the machine and crochet using that great baby yard from the shop. They have not pilled or gone out of shape!!! Krystal is now 26 yrs. old and she and her hubby are new parents which makes us great-grandparents. Krystal is using the blankets now so you know how long ago they were made. Tell Kathryn that I still have the little doll family she made on the knitting machine - the kids played with them alot and I saved them - when I see the dolls I think of Frank and Willie and the family. I am sorry that I did not come for the visit when you asked me - I could have seen and talked to Frank - as you know things were very confusing and and we were both so unhappy - then Borden became ill and that meant lots of Dr.s visits, tests and such. We wish to thank you - Willie, Tom and David for coming to Rods Service - We are veery gratful that you remembered him and our family. Again our thoughts and prayers are with you. Remember all the good times - great memories - it will get you through.
