Growing up in my teen years very closely to the Kroetsch family, I consider myself blessed. From Delores, I observed the qualities of how to be a loving Mom. Saying “I love you” was always on her lips. I loved how she taught me how to make a lunch go far after a church service with buns and tomatoes and slices of cheese. She taught me about service. She was always in the kitchen and getting ready to feed not just her brew of four but everyone else. Her gentle voice commanded deep respect. Her heart was forever giving!
Atma, Mom and I, earlier this month, asked each other our favourite Christmas memory. We all agreed it was when we gathered with the Kroetsch’s. Food, simple gift giving and laughter was our blessings. After I moved away and had my own family, round every Christmas Delores phoned me. I had dreamt her three days before she passed and wanted to phone her. How blessed was I to have someone care for me as she did and bless me by appearing in a dream.
To all of our loving Kroetsch family, Atma, Mom (Pearl) and I send you our love as we celebrate Delores, a soul so sweet and kind that we must emulate her joy!
