Carl Reinke

Obituary of Carl Reinke

Carl William Frederick Reinke was born May 11, 1925 at Moose Ridge to Otto and Rosetta Reinke. He passed away peacefully August 11, 2015 at the age of 90 years with his loving sister Marge Prince at his side at Killam Long Term Care. Carl was one of eight children and resided in Sedgewick, then on the farm east of Sedgewick. Carl and his brother John took over the farm and care of their Mother. Farming gave him much purpose and enjoyment. He remained there until 2009 when he purchased a house in Sedgewick. A year later due to declining health he moved into Killam Long Term Care. He was very gracious and accepting of his new home. Everyone remembers all the good times spent on the farm. There were many card games, picnics and trips to the city and to the creek to cool off. Carl and John travelled almost every road in Alberta. Every Sunday they would go and whoever wanted to join them was more than welcome. They just started out and never knew where they day would take them. They loved to take in rodeos during the season. Carl loved to travel with family. He visited Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Las Vegas, also a cruise to Alaska to name a few. Lately he enjoyed keeping up with curling. Carl was a very quiet private man but still had a great sense of humor. He stayed very sharp so you couldn't get much past him. He was a wonderful brother, uncle, great and great great uncle. He always enjoyed time spent with family, including going out for lunches and supper. He also enjoyed the attention and affection his girlfriends (staff) at Long Term Care showered on him. Carl will be greatly missed by many but will always remain in our hearts. Carl is survived by his sister Marge Prince at Killam Long Term Care and brother Bill Reinke and wife Shirley of Gibbons, Alberta. Many nieces and nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews. Carl was predeceased by his parents Otto and Rose Reinke, sisters Ethel and husband William Culshaw, Eva and husband Ray Ross of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Amy and husband Stu Pruden of B.C., brothers John and Roy Reinke, brothers-in-law Gilbert Thompson, Joe Prince, nephews Kevin Ross of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Ralph Culshaw of Edmonton and Miles Armstrong of B.C., niece Alice Hansen of Wembley, Alberta. At Carl's request there will be no funeral or memorial. Memorial donations in memory of Carl may be made to Killam Long Term Care or a charity of the donor's choice.
