I moved to Edmonton from Calgary when I was 14 years old and met Joe Butkovic, who we called “Bookie”, at St. Kevin’s School, in grade 8. He was my best friend in Jr. High, and my first friend in Edmonton. I was often at his home and he at ours, and I remember his grandparents well.
We drifted apart in High School, and eventually lost touch with each other completely, but I have thought of him often over the years, and tried to find him from time to time. I would have loved to become reacquainted with him. He was a great guy, and my parents and siblings remembered him fondly too.
Amazing the impact we have in one another’s lives, especially in those formative years.
