Obituary of Verner Niehaus
Verner John Niehaus was born in Strome, Alberta on September 14, 1928 to Ben and Magdalena Niehaus and passed away peacefully on June 25, 2015 at the age of 86 years.
Vern took great pride in everything he did. His many passions were tending his yard and garden, fishing and camping with family and friends, fixing and repairing every moving engine and any squeaking door he could find!
His greatest joy in life was the time spent with family. When grandchildren arrived he experienced a renewal of youthfulness! Many memories were created from his passion for exploring nature with Helen and his children. Yearly summer vacations and regular Sunday drives were a huge part of his life.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years (59 years on July 16th) Helen and their 7 children Brenda (Scott) Hedstrom, Regina (Frank) Collinge, Paul (Dawn) Niehaus, Bernice Walton, Eugene (Merrianne) Niehaus, Lenore (Robert) Day, Greg (Donna) Niehaus, 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, soon to be 11, and 7 siblings Lorraine, Alma, Jeanette, Loyola, Elldon, Larry and David.
Vern was predeceased by his parents Ben and Magdalena, stepmother Valeria, two sisters Mildred, Barbara and several other relatives.
Memorial donations in memory of Vern may be made to the Killam Continuing Care, the Killam Cemetery Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.
