Obituary of Marilyn Gail Holben
Marilyn Gail Holben passed away peacefully on July 23, 2022 at the U of A Hospital.
She was born to Arthur Shirley and Lorene Holben of Galahad. Marilyn enjoyed her formative years going to Galahad and Forestburg Schools. Although she did well as a student, SPORTS was what she excelled in. She played on many sport teams and made great friendships. After receiving her teaching degree she taught Phys Ed in Watson Lake, Yk and Fort Nelson, B.C. before teaching IT and Phys Ed at Thorsby, Ab. Finally she was unable to teach because of a jaw injury that was very painful. Imagine going from sports as your way of life to laying on the couch. Last year she had jaw implants and was looking forward to golfing and maybe some pickle ball this summer when she became so violently ill. She went into hospital June 28 and never came out.
Marilyn leaves to mourn her sister Jane Nelson and her family and her brother Darrin Holben (Cheryl) and his family one aunt as well as cousins and MANY FRIENDS. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Edgar and Russel, aunts, uncles and cousins.
In true Marilyn style when asked about what she wanted for a funeral she said, “I want a graveside service like we had for Ed, keep it simple”! So in honor of her request, a Graveside service will be held on August 6, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Galahad Cemetery with fellowship and refreshments to follow at the Galahad Hall.
