Ed Holmberg posted a condolence

Our deepest condolences to all of the family from Ed & Margaret! Leonard and Dorothy were great neighbours and special friends to Mom, Dad and all of our family. I remember their visits to our farm and playing games. I remember Leonard and Dorothy driving to the golf course in their golf cart. They would walk to church and dressed to nines! Leonard was a special partner with Dad for many years in the John Deere business! What good memories for special friends! What nice tributes to your Mom from your families. May God bless you all!
Sincerely,
Ed & Margaret Holmberg

We are sorry that this is the end of another era, but are thankful for folks like Dorothy having been in our midst, gentle, caring and kind. 'It takes a village' and Dorothy was one of the village members who was always hospitable and generous towards our children. A life well lived, may God comfort you all at this time.

On behalf of our Mother Annette and all the Lapointe's we would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the JOHNSON family on the loss of Dorothy. She is fondly remembered as our gentle neighbor, and she and Leonard must have exercised considerable restraint while the many Lapointes were growing up and running wild next Door. Rest in peace Dorothy.

When my mother was a young single woman, she attended Concordia College in Camrose. She had a conviction that God was calling her to be a missionary; that is, until she met my Dad. As they say, the rest is history. But she determined to make it her calling then to make a home for her husband and family and in so doing, serve the Lord that way as best she could. If there's one word I would choose to describe Mom, it would be "faithfulness". She truly made our house a home, looking after the needs of our family.
Mom loved to sing! I can remember many times hearing her sing with her whole heart while doing laundry to the rhythm of her wringer washing machine in the basement. She also sang solos at church. Another memory of Mom was walking up the sidewalk to our house after school and smelling fresh baked bread and cinnamon rolls that she had just made ... yum, yum!
Mom loved to garden and always had different flowers planted along our sidewalk ... bleeding hearts, portulacas, gladiolas and more. Every year she planted a big garden and we loved the fresh vegetables that she prepared. But she put us kids to work picking the peas and beans and digging the potatoes.
Despite the fact that Mom was a quiet, retiring person, she touched the lives of others by ministering at church, teaching Sunday School and leading Stonecroft Bible studies with neighbour ladies.
I know for certain that Mom's prayers have followed me throughout my life and that is a wonderful blessing! Proverbs chapter 31 describes the virtuous woman. That was my Mom! I am forever grateful to God for giving me such a wonderful mother!
Thank you to everyone for your condolences and memories shared of our mother!

Dorothy Johnson...our neighbor in our boyhood years...across the street in Hughenden...I'll always remember the welcome and kindness Dorothy extended to me, as with her three older boys, we spent many hours playing together, hiking across the pasture behind the Johnson home...Darrell and Ken...school chums, Sunday School classmates...and Roger tagging along. Dorothy was a good mother, an example to me in her fairness and firmness, mingled with care and affection. Today, she is with the Lord, to Whom she was faithful...my condolences to the families, and thanksgiving for the life and example of their mother...Home at last with Jesus...thank you Darrell, Ken, Roger, Cheryl and Marvin's family, for sharing this beautiful tribute, photo's, and piano music in honor of your mom, with appreciation from David Ball.
