Obituary of Jerdis Hansen

Jerdis Arleen Hansen (nee Taralson) passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on September 23, 2021, at the age of 88 years. She was born on August 28, 1933, on the family farm at Killam, to John and Agnes Taralson. Jerdis was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends, especially on the farm. She loved a good laugh, animals of any kind, kids of any size, and Sundays at church. Jerdis will be greatly missed by her children, Joseph, Joycelyn, Connie, Jim (Sharon), Danny, Christine (Craig), Arleen, and Doren; her grandchildren, Jason (Josey), Beki (Jesse), Justine (Wes), Bethany (Juli), Zennon, Kayleigh, Ray, and Ian; and her great-grandchildren, Zaela, Jake, Zidon, Lincoln, Marlow, Emma, Madi, Zylus, Mila, Edwin, Isla, and Natalie. She will also be missed by her extended family of cousins, nephews, nieces, and their children, her many friends and those who called her “Mom” or “Jerd”. Jerdis was pre-deceased by her son, Dennis, her grandson, Jake, her husband, Wil, and her parents, brothers and sisters. The Hansen family would like to express heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff at Killam Extended Care for all the years of kind and exemplary care for Mom. In lieu of flowers, we will collect donations for a bench to be placed in the courtyard of the Killam Extended Care facility. Her funeral will be Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 11:00 am, at the Prairie Park Baptist Cemetery, 43444 Range Road 133, east of the farm. Due to the current Alberta Health regulations, the family has requested social distancing and the wearing of masks. Public viewing will be Saturday, October 2, from 9:00 - 10:00 am at Fee and Sons in Killam.
