Obituary of Donald Stovin
Don passed away February 22, 2015 at the age of 72 at the Killam General Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.
Don was one of 10 children born to Lawrence & Alice Stovin at Deloraine, Manitoba. His twin brother Ronald passed away when they were toddlers.
He left school early to make his own way in the world and moved to Alberta to work, where he met and married Betty Jean Blumhagen. They had 3 daughters.
Don had a number of careers throughout his lifetime, including road construction, mechanic and sales. He was best remembered for his salesmanship, not only of farm machinery, but also of horses and cattle, about which he was very passionate.
Don always had a joke at the ready and loved to share them with others. He occupied his free time with jigsaw puzzles and woodworking, making anything his youngest daughter Rhonda asked him for.
He was an avid hockey fan and spent time working with the local Jr B hockey team. He always cheered for the Oilers, and any team playing against the Flames. Don enjoyed reading Western novels and was a frontier history buff. But his favourite pastime was probably napping with a dog (or two) in his lap.
Don was predeceased by his parents, his twin Ronald, his oldest brother and one niece.
He is survived by his former wife Betty, their three daughters Denise, Michelle (Ben) & Rhonda (Daniel) and his 4-legged babies Gryphon & Sparkle.
