Bill (KW) Gibb, of Killam passed away on June 1, 2026 at Killam Long Term Care at the age of 85.

Bill was born on May 23, 1941 to Ken and Helen Gibb of Killam. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle.

Mourning his loss are his daughters Shauna Gibb, Tammy James and her husband Bud; grandchildren Izaya, Marcy and Scott; great grandchildren Ethan, Lincoln and Bentley; nieces and nephews Larry Erickson, Darren Erickson (Gayleen), Norman Erickson (Rhonda), Shirley Parker, and Jayme Blenkarn.

Bill was predeceased by his wife Verna; his parents Ken and Helen Gibb; his sister Phyllis and her husband, Vern Erickson; parents-in-law Clifford and Florence Breum; brother-in-law Jim Breum; and great grandson Jacob Lazarick.

Bill was a life long Killam resident. He farmed the same land his grandparents homesteaded in 1904. He raised award winning Skillymarno Angus cattle from stock purchased in Scotland by his great grandfather in 1921.

He married Verna Breum in 1965 on a 100 Degree day in July. They lived on the farm until 2011 when they moved into their beautiful new home in town, with their Century Farm Award proudly displayed on the front lawn.

Bill loved his family, his cattle, his pets, and the Calgary Stampeders. He enjoyed drinking a tall rye & ginger (lots of ice), stirring the pot at the coffee shop, and riling up Verna.

Bill was very passionate about his community. You would be hard pressed to find a more dedicated supporter. Endless hours were spent championing his home town.

He will be missed by many.

A memorial service for Bill will be held on June 10, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Pleasington Lutheran Church Township road 424 and Range Road 143 near Forestburg, AB. A time of fellowship and refreshments will be held back at the Killam Community Hall immediately following the Memorial service.  If you are not able to attend the memorial service, please join us for lunch at the Killam Community Hall.
