Arthur Herman Hildebrand

1931-2026

Art Hildebrand passed away peacefully in Daysland on Tuesday 14 of April, 2026 at 94 years of age.

Art was born on the family farm In Snowflake, Manitoba on the 25 of November 1931. The fourth of seven children, Art was blessed to be part of a close-knit family that flourished during the depression and gave Art an incredible beginning. His love for his family was one of his defining characteristics throughout his life.

After high school, Art worked at various jobs until he enrolled in the RCAF in 1955. On completion of basic training he was stationed at RCAF Clinton where he completed basic electronics training and qualifying on heavy radar. Art served at various radar sites and flying stations in Canada and Germany. While serving overseas Art met and married Judi. They remained happily married for 63 years. In 1978, seeking more stability for his family, Art left the service and took a position with AGT in Peace River. Art worked for AGT for 16 years retiring in Calgary in 1994. In 1995, Art and Judi moved to a farm near Strome, returning to his rural roots. Art spent the last 31 years thriving in the Strome, Killam and Daysland area. He became an integral part of this community and made many friends.

Art is survived by his wife Judi, his daughter Cindy (Mike) and son Michael (Kathy). He also leaves three grandchildren: Tighe (Riley), Alyssa and Ethan. He was predeceased by his grandson Jason. Art served his country and served his community. He championed his family and never turned his back on a friend or a neighbour.
