Hans Carl Allan "Bud" Ness was born on the family farm on August 24th, 1936, the fifth child of Sverre and Mabel Ness. He passed away peacefully at the Killam Health Care Centre on Saturday, February 21st, 2026, at the age of 89 years.

Bud grew up on the farm, North of Lougheed, where he developed a lifelong love for building and tinkering. Self-taught as a mechanic and carpenter, he enjoyed constructing things and spent countless hours in his garage. He contributed to the building of Highway 13 and later worked at the Lougheed Seed Plant. After a short adventure running the seed plant in Three Hills, he moved back to Lougheed to farm with brother Cliff. They purchased the service and bulk station around 1959, on the side of their farming business. They sold in the late 60’s to return to farming full-time.

Bud married Myrna Schmidt on April 4th, 1959. In 1960, Bud & Myrna welcomed their son Dorn and a few years later Dean to the family. After Bud’s brother Cliff's passing, Bud and nephew Allen along with their families, continued the farm together. They expanded by purchasing additional land with Bud’s brothers Bob and Chub, naming it Park Holdings, and farmed it collaboratively.

In recent years, his son Dorn has taken over the farm operations, though Bud and Allen remained active well into their later years. Bud served on the county council, agricultural society, town council, and numerous other committees. He cherished family time through numerous family gatherings, birthday celebrations, camping, travel, cruises, car shows, and trips to Arizona.

Bud was predeceased by his wife, Myrna; his brothers Cliff, Lloyd, Bob, and Chub; his sister Irene; numerous in-laws and great grandson Riften. 

He is survived by his sons: Dorn (Joan) and Dean (Michelle); grandchildren: Justine, B.J. (Kelsey), Colton (Angelle), Charlynn (David), Travis (Becky); step-grandchildren: Tyler (Shannan), Sherrie, Tate, Quinn; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law Gary (Marcie) and Gordon (Joyce); sisters-in-law Susan, Shirley (Roger), Eileen, Carol, Leann (Bernie); and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Funeral service for Bud will be held at the Lougheed Community Hall on Saturday March 7th, 2026 at 2:00 pm. Please join the family for a time of fellowship and refreshments following the funeral service.
