Anna Stina Kobitzsch was born to Andrew and Emelia Elmquist February 10th, 1924 in Sweden and passed away in Hardisty Longterm Care February 13th, 2026 at the age of 102 surrounded by her loving family.

Anna had a younger sister, Edith, and they soon became known as the Elmquist sisters during their school days at Rosyth, Vermilion and Derwent.  After moving back to Rosyth, Anna worked as a clerk at the Rosyth Store and Post Office until she married Henry Kobitzsch in 1951.  Together they purchased the little pink house across from the school in Hardisty.

Anna loved to be outdoors gardening under the blue sky and had a beautiful yard to work in.  She loved doing handy work and everyone received some of her beautiful pieces.  Her newest hobby had been scrapbooking complete with every tool, sticker set and colour of paper.  She was always looking to receive more pictures to work with and would be quite excited to receive a project to complete for one of us.

She is survived by her children Larry (Gail), Maxine (Bradley); grandchildren Niki (Les), Kris (Kristen), Colin (Jody), Christina (David), grandson-in-law Evan; great grandchildren Madeleine (Derek), Isabella (Andrew), Olivia, Sarah, Claire, Braxton, Brayden, Cole, Rylan; and great-great grandchildren August and Everett.

She was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Emelia, husband Henry, sister Edith (Ken) and granddaughter Colleen.

There will be a family gathering to celebrate Anna’s life at a later date under the blue skies, with the sun shining bright and the feeling of warmth on our backs…just the way she would want it.

Anna’s family would like to thank the doctor, the nurses, all the support staff and a special thank you to Sheila for the wonderful care Anna received during her stay at Hardisty Longterm Care.

Memorial donations in Anna’s name may be made to the Hardisty Hospital Auxiliary.
