James Otto Stehr Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our father, James on February 10, 2026, at the Killam Health Centre Continuing Care at the age of 89.  He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.

James was born on September 5, 1936, to Jake and Marie Stehr in Vanguard, Saskatchewan, the second of three sons.

Those who will deeply miss him include his children; Nola (Dwayne) Smith, Glenda (Keith) Lien, Corinne (Ryan) Stehr and Erin Stehr; his brother Wayne Stehr; granddaughters Myra (Chris) Cameron, Courtney (Mike) Schultz and Heather Cameron and nieces Pam and Laura.

He is also survived by his longtime partner of 46 years, Margaret Arnold. Though living apart in recent years, his love for her never waivered.  He will also be lovingly remembered by Megan (Mitch) Livingstone, Robert (Deanna) Arnold and Margaret’s extended family members.

James was predeceased by his parents, Jake and Marie, brother Leland and son Bradley.

A service will be held to honour James’ memory at the Sedgewick Community Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.

In honour of Jim’s love for people and his humour, guests are invited to share stories and memories during an open microphone time at the service.

A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow.

Memorial donations in memory of James can be made to the Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation (AIWC) or a charity of the donor’s choice.
