Eleanor (Ella) Collier passed away at the Extended Care in Viking, AB on November 27, 2025, at the age of 104 years young.

Ella was born in Lougheed on May 13. 1921, and attended school in the Melbrae school north of Lougheed, she was very active in playing ball, and gymnastics, travelling by teacher’s car to all the different schools to compete against. In 1944 she married George Collier from the Parkhill district south of Lougheed where George had attended school.  They lived on the farm just ½ mile west of the school and farmed there for many many years.  Their children Arthur and Dianna were born and raised on this farm and attended school, and went by bus into the town of Lougheed.  Ella loved working outdoors with her cattle and horses and of course a dog or two.  While they lived on the farm, neighbors the Chadwicks, Cooksons and Smiths would take turns hosting Friday night whist parties.  Ella was a lifetime member of the Cecil Kinross Legion in Lougheed and the Royal Purple Ladies in Hardisty. 

Ella and George moved off the farm into Hardisty but never really left the farm, they travelled out every day to check cattle and do chores.  They loved to go for Sunday drives to check out the crops, and see the cattle and horses grazing. After George passed away in 2002, Ella moved to Sedgewick, until she moved to the Vialta Lodge in Viking in 2019.  Ella was in the lodge for 6 years, then after a few falls was transferred to the Extended Care in Viking in March 2025. Ella loved doing jigsaw puzzles, seek a word puzzle and knitting washcloths for everyone. 

Ella is survived by her son Arthur (Marg), step grandsons Ron and Dustin Wells (Koen and Mason), her daughter Dianna (Ray) Kowerchuk, Grandchildren Jessie (Jamie) MacDonald, Kevin (Val), Jennifer (Sandy) and Jody, Great grandchildren Callen and Carsyn MacDonald.

Ella was predeceased by her husband George, Brothers Harry and Adolph Russell, Nephew Tommy, numerous brother and sister in laws, many friends and neighbors.

Memorial will take place at Fee and Sons Funeral Home on July 11, at 2:00 pm in Killam, Alberta.  Burial to take place in Lougheed Cemetery and then luncheon to follow at the Seniors Centre in Lougheed.
