Obituary of Giacomo D'Amico
D'AMICO, Giacomo James Nicola
Our family is heartbroken to announce that Giacomo James Nicola D'Amico passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the age of 51 years.
Giacomo leaves behind his son, Nicola; mom, Patricia; sister, Angelina; stepdaughters, Reigha (Dakota) and Mianna (Zach); nieces, Justina and Natasha; numerous uncles, aunts and cousins; friend, Michelle; best friend, Cliff; Steven and Stan; the boys from his last crew; and all the brothers from Local 1460.
Giacomo was a millwright, like his dad, working as a contractor in many plants across Alberta for the last 22 years. He was the guy who kept the morale up on the job, always had a story to tell with great detail, choice words, and if you were lucky, a picture to boot. He loved his job and the guys he worked with.
Giacomo's pride and joy was his son Nicola. As soon as he was finished a job, he picked Nicola up, and those two were off. First stop was always cookies, sprite, and double doubles for nana. Nicola loved when papa turned the music loud and they would drive together for hours. Nicola's favourite truck was papas black Cummins diesel. He loved when papa would do burnouts on the driveway, but nana sure didn't. Giacomo loved taking Nicola out for quad rides. He would be holding on tight, telling papa to go faster. They also spent hours together swimming in the pool set up at the acreage. Those two were always partners in crime.
Giacomo was that guy. You met him once and you never did forget him. The way he entered a room, his booming voice, and his vulgar choice of words! He had the biggest smile, always stopped to talk, and gave the best bear hugs. Giacomo lived life to the fullest everyday and had a no fear attitude. His heart was so big and full of kindness. He would be the first person to help anyone in need.
Giacomo was tragically taken from us way too soon. He would tell us not to cry for him. Instead, he would want us to celebrate and keep him in our memories by having a cold beer.
Giacomo's wishes were to not have a service. Memorial donations may be made to STARS Donations, 1441 Aviation Park NE, Box 570
Calgary, Alberta, T2E 8M7.
Cheers Giacomo, until we meet again.
