Obituary of Hugh Derraugh

Hugh was born to Herbert and Muriel Derraugh on February 10, 1932 in Kindersley, Saskatchewan and passed away at the Royal Alexandra Hospital on January 12, 2018 at the age of 85 years.

 

Hugh is loved and remembered by his children, Muriel (Phil) Thomson, Marilyn (Michael) Patten, Pat (Ernie) Van Hecke, Sherry (Bob) Ruud and son-in-law Wilf Yung.

 

His grandchildren and great grandchildren Sherry (Craig) Shemley – Kirsten and Nicholas; Gloria (Edwin) Kron – Johnathan (Angela) Karpol – (Miles), Jillian and Carissa; Penny (Darren) Arthur – Kiana and Jayna; Patty Wagner (Brad) – Brett; Darryl (Natilie) Beatty; Melissa (Jeff) Niven – Mason and Colton; Chelsea Thomson; Michelle Patten – Jayden and Matthew; Nicole (Blair) Zettel – Alexis and Logan; Bobbie-Jo Van Hecke – Hunter, Phoenix and Willow; Roxanne (Mike) Field – Brayden and Madison; Dustin Van Hecke; Rob (Katie) Fossum – Camryn and Taylor; Candise (Michael) Oracheski – Zachary, Huxley and Lillian; Tara Fossum – Kiera; Tina (Vern) Crone – Braden and Mackenzie – (Lincoln); Val (Tony) Phillips – Keaton, Kaleb and Liam.

 

His sister Betty Guinn and numerous relatives.

 

Hugh was predeceased by his wife Thelma, daughter Coreen, son Wayne, daughter-in-law Judy, grandson Robert, parents Herbert and Muriel and brothers Doug, Gerry and Vern.

 

Hugh was a very quiet man who loved his family deeply. He was a very hard worker and his strong work ethics served him well. He is probably best remembered for his work with the Village of Lougheed. He enjoyed curling, bowling, horseshoes, floor curling, bingo, cards, and coffee row.

 

Being part of the community was very important to Hugh. Always enjoyed a visit with whoever he ran into.

 

A memorial service for Hugh will be Friday, January 19, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lougheed Community Hall. Memorial donations in memory of Hugh may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
