Obituary of Dennis Busse

It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of Dennis “Denny” Busse of Killam, AB on July 15, 2017.

Dennis will be greatly missed by his wife of 50 years, Sherrie and children Kerry (Michelle), Steve (Wendy), Rick (Colleen) and Darren Busse; his grandchildren Megan, Rylan, Braden, Stephanie, Andrea, Nathan and Jared Busse.

He is also survived by his brothers Robert (Jean) and Roy (Donna) Busse and sister Grace Kells, brothers-in-law, Lorne and Jackie Maxwell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Dennis was predeceased by his parents Ed and Ina Busse, brothers Albert and Allan Busse, sister Edna Palmer, brothers-in-law John Kells and Lloyd Palmer.  Also, mother and father-in-law, Jock and Flo Maxwell.

Dennis developed a passion for farming while working alongside his father and eventually took over the family farm.  He continued farming with partner, Vern Erickson, until 1987.  He continued helping fellow farmers repair machinery and help with harvest.  Dennis began work in the construction industry travelling the province of Alberta for several years.  He loved to create projects from wood and metal.  If you did not have a pattern, he would build from scratch.  No challenge was too great!

Dennis’ greatest love was spending time with family and friends.  Conversation and storytelling was at the heart of every meeting, followed by a firm handshake or hug.  Dennis enjoyed travelling with Sherrie and his family to many parts of the world.  His children and grandchildren were his greatest treasure.

He enjoyed helping out family, friends and his community in his own humble way.  This was recognized in 2015, when he was granted the Killam Hall of Fame award.

A celebration of life is to be held Thursday, July 20 at 2 p.m. at the Killam Community Hall.  There will be fellowship and refreshments to follow the service.

Donations in Dennis’ memory can be made to the Killam & District Health Care Foundation.
